2-Day Asbury Park Itinerary (2024)

The Asbury Hotel is a trendy accommodation in Asbury Park, New Jersey that effortlessly combines modern style with a laid-back vibe. The hotel features a rooftop lounge with stunning ocean views, an outdoor pool with a fire pit for evening gatherings, and a cool lobby bar. The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, offering amenities like Malin + Goetz bath products.

I went to my girlfriends wedding last weekend and I’ve never been to a wedding where the employees also gets matching tattoos with the bridal group. Amazing experience over all they absolutely made me feel so welcome. Thank you Morgan and thank you Theresa for giving my friend such an amazing experience overall will be having my wedding here.. this will forever be remember. Can’t believe we all have matching tattoos. Amazing idea

The room was small for 2 double beds. Only one mirror in the room and it was in the bathroom. Not enough plugs for phones, the plug for the small refrigerator had no plate and looked like a fire hazard. The promise for 24/7 'Grab &Go' coffee was not always in place. Had to leave the hotel for early morning coffee. No coffee maker in the room, plus no microwave. The pool was excellent, the best part of the hotel

Decided on the Asbury Hotel while looking to spend a few weekdays at the Asbury beach. The Standard Single Queen rooms are small, but it’s fine for two people who aren’t planning on spending much time in the room. The pool area is very nice, though it’s best to mention that there will be many families with young children and individuals with dogs.Service from the front desk to bartenders and everything in between was great.Would definitely stay again on future trips to Asbury.

Asbury hotel is my type of hotel. Housed in an old Salvation Army building, the hotel retains its charming exposed brick walls, adding a touch of history to its contemporary ambiance. The rooms are on the smaller side, but they are expertly designed to maximize space and create a cozy atmosphere. The Scandinavian-chic decor adds a trendy and minimalist vibe, with clean lines, neutral tones, and sleek furnishings. Despite the compact size, the room still manages to provide all the necessary amenities, including a comfortable bed, a small desk, and a walk-in-shower bathroom. It is located in a vibrant neighborhood, guests have easy access to the beach, boardwalk, and various dining and entertainment options (including the immersive Clinch gallery).

Our experience working with the Asbury was absolutely amazing! We knew we wanted to have our wedding there right after we took the venue tour. The hotel has a funky alternative vibe but also gives you the ability to still have the traditional feel of a wedding if you want it. Our guests had a wonderful weekend staying there and said it truly felt like a destination wedding with everything going on at the hotel and having the boardwalk just steps away. Working with Gina throughout the entire planning process was awesome and Teresa and Mia made sure all of our events went smoothly during our actual wedding weekend. We had our welcome party out by the pool area (rented out the pool deck, highly recommend) and our ceremony on the rooftop. There were multiple spaces in the hotel available to have our wedding events which was great having so many options. We can’t thank the Asbury team enough for making our wedding experience perfect!

We had our wedding at The Asbury in September 2022 and it was truly the best day ever. From the beginning of the planning process to the day after the wedding everything went so smoothly and perfectly. We worked with Matt for the majority of the time and he was super responsive, helpful, and full of great design ideas. The day of we also had Teresa and she was on top of everything! We didn't have to lift a finger the whole day. The Asbury was very open to anything we asked for and supported our strangest requests. We had our ceremony on the Baronet rooftop and they helped us decide the perfect placement and layout of everything so that everyone could see and hear without being distracted by Asbury summer happenings. Our reception was in their event space and they were masterminds in creating a layout that was both functional and beautiful. They even added some extra magic with a big reveal of the tent/dinner space with the garage doors during our first dances. I truly cannot imagine having our wedding anywhere else, we look forward to getting to celebrate anniversaries there in the future and hope that everyone gets to experience an event there at some point. It truly was a dream come true and we HIGHLY recommend planning a wedding there!

Bruce Springstein who?! The only thing I know about Asbury Park is their phenomenal hotel hospitality!I was never one for hotels. I consider myself more of an Air Bnb man. That was until I met the unmatched attention to detail and care of Morgan and her staff. WOW, what an experience. After a lovely night out in Jersey City with my significant other, a warm welcome from the hospitality collective on fifth ave was just what we needed to put a cap on our night. They were very thorough with their explanation of the Hotel and its amenities and incredibly considerate with our dietary needs (Gluten-Free). It takes a lot to create a welcoming atmosphere within an unfamiliar area and even more to create a trust with its customers that will be sure to make them repeat offenders of staying at such a wonderful place in New Jersey. LOVED their map of the local spots and will be sure to check them out the next time we are around. The only thing this place needs is a local supplier for their food and beverage options to truly ensure that sense of support for the local community, coffee perhaps?Teresa was there too. 5 Stars!

Can't fault this hotel at all. Great location. Great, friendly, chatty staff. Great evening entertainment. Comfy rooms with nice view of lake at the front for us. It was clearly really busy due to a wedding on our arrival day but somehow they made it seem not busy by being very efficient. We were given an upgrade upon arrival which was super nice. Clearly romantic and chilled as my partner chose our last day to propose! Can't wait to come back!

What a great, funky and fun place to stay in Asbury. A unique atmosphere, totally funky from the moment you arrive. They offer valet parking for your convenience. The lobby is part industrial and part plan cool. They have record players in every room and in the lobby. A well stocked bar, music and karaoke. Stylish seating, and a grab and go bar. They have a dinner round back and a bowling alley. I will be back.

Chic hotel with excellent location in Asbury Park. The local live music on site is really cool. Food options from the breakfast bar, pool bar, and Asbury Diner were varied and quite good. Get to the pool early during high season of you want to have good seating. The rooftop bar is very popular; you will hear it if your room is on the upper floors. The staff was very responsive and accommodating. I recommend using the valet parking. I would stay there again. Pet friendly too.

In 2017, my boyfriend and another couple went to the rooftop bar at The Asbury Hotel. The views were amazing!!!! Various spots to sit and enjoy the rooftop. Drinks were good but pricey. It had just opened the year before so the night we went wasn't too crowded. Would definitely go back and now that I moved out of Jersey, gives me a reason to stay there 😁

This hotel is great! We went in April and it was a bit cold out but there was so much to do at the hotel that we still had a lot of fun. The pool is heated and is surrounded by multiple fire pits. Behind the hotel is a bowling alley with a bar and music venue attached. The hotel is about a 3 minute walk to the main part of the boardwalk. The staff was super friendly and gave great recs for food. We would stay here again. They originally charged me an extra fee but after chatting the a team member the charge was sorted out. I would definitely come here again!

We stayed here for our wedding because it was close to the venue on the boardwalk. It poured all weekend! I am happy we stayed here because the lobby was perfect for photos. Thank you to the valet parking attendants for helping us both unload two cars upon arrival, and a big thanks to Neal for helping me pack up said cars on the way out...in the pouring rain!We stayed in the panoramic suite, and I had a double bed the night before. Both rooms were clean and well kept. All in all, we had a great time, we would definitely stay here again.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. The employees are fantastic and very helpful. Kat specifically during our stay! The location is amazing, you’re in the middle of all great places to eat/drink. Live music regularly and the hotel is connected to the lanes. If your looking for a great welcoming atmosphere with plenty of culture come here!

We went to the Asbury hotel for my niece's wedding last weekend and had a great experience! We were traveling with my 89 year old mom and her dog and so requested an early check in to make sure they were both settled. I was able to communicate with the front desk staff via email and text and they came through for us! Dominique and Kate greeted us with friendly smiles and answered all of my questions and got us into our room smoothly. Since we were there for a wedding we had a lot of luggage and things with us - garment bags, luggage with dresses, shoes, coolers, etc and Neil the bellman was super friendly and helpful and got all of our stuff loaded up and into our room. The front desk manager Blaine is terrific. I think that guy works 24 hours a day!The rooms are small but we knew that going in. I believe it is a converted Salvation Army building so the rooms are modern and clean, but are on the small side. We stayed in a Double Double and it was plenty of room for 2 adults and a dog. Did I mention that the entire hotel is DOG friendly? Dogs are totally welcome - in fact there is a dedicated dog menu at the grab and go counter in the lobby and when I needed a poop bag, they had plenty at the front desk! There is a closet in the room with space to hang clothes, as well as shelves, a safe, and a small fridge. There is coffee and grab and go available downstairs starting at 7 AM and Vanessa who serves coffee is super friendly and sweet. The diner next door is great with yummy breakfast and service (thanks Briana). There are outlets near the beds to charge your phones and the bathroom was clean and the shower had hot water and soap/shampoo/condition/lotion was all included. There are hairdryers hanging on the closet doors. There are robes and slippers in the closet for use too.In the evening they texted to ask if we wanted housekeeping service and sent someone right up.We were here from Friday - Sunday and it is a party vibe. The wedding ceremony itself was on the rooftop, and co*cktails and dinner were also in the hotel in their banquet area. There were a lot of brides running around and it was full! There Is loud music that plays into the night - I think until 1:30 AM so if you are looking for quiet, this is not the place. But if you are here for a fun time with an incredible vibe, steps aways from the Beach and boardwalk this is the place to be!The catering team did an incredible job with the wedding itself and everything was well run!I want to give a shout out to some other friendly and great staff: Jacob,Nelly, Autumn, Colby, and Briana the diner waitress. My husband, son and I will def go back here when we visit Asbury!!!

We absolutely loved our stay in a Panoramic suite -- but I want to note that we did not personally pay for it, and would never have been able to afford it on our own. However, we felt very lucky and special getting to stay there! The staff were also all so kind, welcoming, and helpful. The pool and rooftop bar are so fun. The proximity to the beach and other neat Asbury spots is bar none. Also, the pork roll egg & cheese from the Asbury Lanes diner was one of the best I've ever had. Due to the price, this is somewhere we could only stay one in a while on special occasions, but we would love to go back in the future.

Nice hotel is in the heart of Asbury Park. Clean, and comfortable. I take a point off because the walls are a bit thin and if you have a loud group near or above you it might be noticeable. I would definitely go back but if you have a choice just take an upper floor so no one is above you.

Great central location with a cool lobby for hanging out. Music each night. Our room was clean and well accommodated. However, had two issues. Our entire stay the elevators had a horrible over powering smell of gas that literally made me gag each time I stepped in the elevator. (I started walking down the 4 flights of stairs and just took elevator up.) Management in the lobby just smiled and said there was an issue with the pool line fire pits, but it should not have smelled that bad Thurs-Sat. It didn't' seem like they were doing anything to air if out if the issue was actually fixed. The second issue is the automatic inclusion of 20% tip on every drink and food purchased in the lobby or meal purchased at the Diner attached to the hotel. A tip is not an assumption, rather it's for good service. That made me not want to tip at all.Manager of the bowling alley was really friendly and helpful. The hotel bartender could have been more personable. The lobby was empty one night and my friends and I waited for him to ask us for our drink orders as he prioritized setting up his bar over attending to guests. All in all great hotel.

2 NYC Nurses needed a pool vacation! I loved our stay, just had 2 issues. 1. Booked a double room, advertised online with, "2 lounge chairs & a table" came into only 1 chair& a nightstand. Staff looked at me like I was crazy, showed them their own site. Ended up getting 1 chair, no table. Pool is GORGEOUS, but they sell Day Passes to NON-hotel guests, which then OVERCROWDS THE POOL. I would've given 5 stars if they just allowed their own guests of this HUGE hotel in, we had to FIGHT as paying guests of the pool?!?! A girl even came up to us in the lobby asking where the pool was, cause she was not a hotel guest & had a "pool day pass".... Horrible thing to do to your own paying guests!! Especially when they are VERY overpriced rooms for what you get. There's also no functioning restaurant (even though the lobby is big enough to make one!), just a greasy diner with a limited menu of fried food baskets 🤢 make a dinner res on Cookman St, tons of nice restaurants!

My hotel room was the only room in the entire hotel where there was a construction crew doing work directly outside the window, drilling and yelling and hollering all morning, both days of my stay (see photo). This construction work was being done in direct violation of Asbury Park ordinance that clearly states the hours during which construction work is permitted to occur. When I went outside the hotel to try and determine what work was being done outside my 7th floor window, it was clear from the scaffolding that it was solely my room that was impacted (again, see photo). I informed the staff, and instead of offering to move me to a different room, they offered me approximately $40 off. This is not even close to acceptable as I was unable to sleep during regular early morning sleeping hours, on both days of my stay. I travel approximately 30 nights per year on business. I have an extremely high tolerance for a variety of hotel experiences. I would rank this as among the most egregious because zero action was taken to rectify the situation. In fact, when I reported it Saturday morning, the same exact construction on the facade resumed Sunday morning at an even earlier hour.

I am an Asbury Park local, so while I can’t write about the rooms, I can write about its place in our community. The bars and events create a band of regulars I wouldn’t trade for the world. The rooftop bar, Salvation, truly is one. The views, atmosphere, and service are top notch. Be sure to grab a drink from Steve. While this may be a hotel, Steve’s service and warmth make this place feel like home. He even turned up some lights in the back so it was easier to read my book in the dark. This place is a regular part of my week and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

We have been to the Asbury Hotel many times. Loved our experience. The front desk and lobby crew were amazing. Food has greatly improved also. Overall, there is a much greater attention to detail. Love this place. Keep up the good work.

The room was dirty with dead bugs on window sills. Looks like a dormitory and is severely overpriced for what you get. The elevator makes a terrible sound and sounds like it's about to break, which is scary! Also, there was no way to control the HVAC in my room. I had to call the front desk several times to complain it was too hot, and they said they would adjust but never did. We were sweating all night long! Service was awful! Would never recommend this place! Also they charge a resort fee for what I do not know as it is NOT a resort!

Salvation Bar, so so service, great view. Bartender was annoyed to hand over a menu. Seriously? As a local, I’ve always enjoyed the lobby area events and bar. Awesome and highly recommend.

The Asbury Hotel is a unique and well-designed hotel in Asbury Park, NJ. The lobby art is eye-catching, and the service is excellent. The lobby bar is perfect for a casual drink, while the pool area offers full-service food and drinks with plenty of seating. The lobby cafe is ideal for grabbing breakfast and coffee. The rooftop bar boasts wrap-around views, including a stunning ocean vista.

I can’t say enough about this amazing Jersey Shore resort! It’s more than a hotel- it’s truly a resort where everything is at your fingertips- food, drinks, entertainment, relaxation- you don’t need to leave the resort to have an amazing time! The location is absolutely perfect. Beach, boardwalk, bars, music are just steps away. The pool is fantastic, the bars and the 24/7 snack bar are wonderful. The rooms are cool and comfortable. Most importantly, the customer service is outstanding. They message you before your stay and take requests! In a time where hotel chains are charging service fees to get early check-in or late check-out, the Asbury staff still treats you like a VIP!.I haven’t experienced the ballroom but I will certainly keep it in mind if ever planning an event. It is absolutely worth the $ to stay here- for a couples getaway or girls night out! There are a few other decent hotels in the area but Asbury is the best!

Great location. Friendly staff. Queen room was really small. They need to add curtains so people can sleep when it's not dark outside. A lot of light came through the blinds. Also, no safe in room. I paid over 700 for two nights. For that price would have expected curtains and a safe. No drawers. Just shelves. Cheap looking furniture in room, but the bed was comfortable. Nice big lobby with books and games.

Diane G — Google review

The lobby is nice. Plenty of space to relax. A bar with live bands. There’s one pool table also. There are TONS of records/cassettes in the lobby that you can select and use the record/cassette player in your room which is a different/cool amenity. There’s a cafe to get coffee, espresso, muffins, snacks, etc. A bit pricey. Five bucks for a 12oz regular coffee. Regular candy bars are three bucks. Muffins are five dollars. Service was good. Never waited longer than a minute. The rooms are OK. Our fridge did NOT work so warm water it is. Bathrooms are nice. HOT water. Beds were NOT very COMFY. It’s definitely a nice place but I just don’t think this TINY room is worth over 300 a night. Room is VERY small. This room is tight for 2 people. I could not imagine a family in one room. It’s not going to happen. You’re not paying for comfort here, you’re paying for the amenities. And you have to download an app to pay for parking.

Perfect place to stay in Asbury Park, close to the boardwalk and the Stone Pony. Love all the music memorabilia and the events that they have, like playing the Pearl Jam movie “Let’s Play Ten” shown outside and the awesome crystal workshops . It’s not just a hotel, it’s a vibe 🎼🌞🌝🍹🔮✨🌟🎸🎫

I have been dying to come to this hotel for years. It has never worked out so I was very excited to finally try it to celebrate my birthday this year. Unfortunately I was disappointed. It started with some miscommunication regarding the rooftop. I messaged the Instagram ahead of time to confirm that it would be open even though the rooftop opening party had been postponed. They told me yes it would still be open. When I arrived at the hotel and they said no, it was closed until the new opening party which is not what I had been told before. The following day, I asked a new employee who told me no it would not be open, but then we saw that there were people on the roof later that day. When we asked again, then it was open. The employees had not given the right information either in person or on Instagram, and if this info had simply changed, there was no notification either in the hotel or on their Instagram. After a day at the beach or pool, one of my favorite things to do is taking nice shower afterwards. Unfortunately my room had no hot water and it was lukewarm at best. I assumed it was a fluke so I gave it an additional day, but when the water didn’t get any better, I brought it to the attention of the front desk, hoping they could look at the room. They offered to remove the resort fee and move me to a new room, which I appreciated. When I arrived to the new room, the door was propped open, and the water was just running in the room. It was unclear if this room had finished being cleaned and when I brought it to the attention of the front desk they made no comment about it. Unfortunately, the new room was even worse. Instead of the water being lukewarm, it was ice cold. I’m not sure why there are so many water issues with this hotel. The pool water was actually warmer than the showers (def a plus for the pool). This feels like a very simple amenity to have, and it needs to be fixed, but it doesn’t seem like anyone intends to do that.I purchased some items at the pool bar and food truck, but I was never able to see my total bill. Even when I asked to close out and see it they said it would just be sent to the room. Even after checking out, I still didn’t see the itemized receipt showing what was being charged. There seems to be an extreme lack of transparency here and it seems concerning that they are hiding something. I’m not sure why everyone is so reluctant to tell you what you were being charged. I asked to see copy of the final charges at checkout, and when they were printed, I noticed that I was charged triple the amount for Parking and the resort fee was never removed as promised. If I had not asked to see it, then I simply would’ve been charged for services that I didn’t even use. I also notified them of the continued water issues in the new room, but I received no apology for the water issues or the incorrect billing. There were also plenty of small things that were annoying and not ideal for any hotel. They were lacking some cleanliness, rooms are VERY small, my fridge was broken, and the unopened shampoo/conditioner/body wash bottles are mounted to the wall. These bottles weren’t opened before mounting them to the wall so it’s impossible to actually use them because they’re locked. This seems like a silly thing, but it’s very annoying when you’re fighting for your life to open the shampoo in an ice cold shower you just want to be over. This hotel is beautiful and I feel like they’re going for more, but it’s missing the mark on some of the major basic needs. I think hot water is a basic necessity for a hotel and I also think that the lack of transparency with bills is very concerning.I wish I could’ve had a better experience for my birthday, but unfortunately, this hotel left a bad taste in my mouth and I would not recommend it. I hope they take these concerns seriously and improve the hotel for future guests.

The location is great if you want to be close to the beach, Wonder Bar, and the Pony. However, the price ranges from high to unreasonably high depending on dates. The room was tiny with only a full-size bed. Service is slower than anticipated - checking in, breakfast, and the co*cktail bar. So you're really paying a premium for the location. The lobby/bar is spacious with a fun atmosphere. At night, they have live bands, and its open to the public. The evening mood fits the overall Asbury vibe, which is appreciated. There are other amenities like the pool and rooftop movie nights, but at the end of the day, The Asbury Hotel is not a destination but a place to rest between the beach and nighlife.

Beerventurers — Google review

Had a horrible experience at this hotel, do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. The furniture in the room is very cheap looking, the room wasn't very clean, and the water in the shower only got luke warm, not at all to the standard you expect when you are paying almost $500 a night. Parking situation is a nightmare - either you have to try to find on street parking, which can be difficult when it's all parked up by people going to the beach, or pay $50 per day for a valet. The worst part was the noise and the service. We had a room on the top floor and the noise level from the rooftop bar was ridiculous, with heavy bass coming through the walls. This is clearly an issue as I see other reviews noting this, but when I called the front desk the man pretended like he didn't know what I was talking about with the noise. Didn't even apologize and claimed that he was going to ask them to turn the music down, which of course it wasn't. Finally after going down to the desk and speaking to them again they offered to move us, but for an inconvenience like that they should be giving you some of your money back. We actually just decided to leave early instead of staying another night in that sorry excuse for a hotel. When we were telling the woman at the front desk that we were checking out early the manager was standing right there but didn't say anything to us. They obviously don't care at all about guests. Avoid!!
